Welcome to Whispering Pines on Lake Superior, our family's chosen name for this paradise on the lake!
You'll experience true relaxation in this gorgeous contemporary featuring 4+ acres of wooded privacy, 393 feet of Lake Superior shoreline, and a huge 60' x 60' L-shaped dock! Spend hours of uninterrupted time on one of three benches situated at various points along the bluff, all providing stunning views of the lake and at least five of the Apostle Islands. Or hike down the 76 steps to the water level and soak in the sun on our dock.
The home is a spectacular four bedroom, four full bath contemporary with Scandinavian styling, and was formerly operated as a Bed & Breakfast. The huge open family room and dining area boasts an 18-foot high custom ceiling beam, a massive glass wall overlooking the lake, maple floors, skylights, and a loft floored with Wisconsin knotty pine. Spiral staircases are the finishing touch that make this home a one-of-a-kind architectural masterpiece.
The main kitchen is well-equipped, with a new refrigerator and microwave, a gas island range, dishwasher, both Keurig and standard coffee makers, and endless cabinets!
All four bedrooms have amazing lake views, and each bedroom has its own full bathroom with shower. The fourth bedroom is a large suite with its own full kitchenette, living area, and loft bedroom - perfect for grandparents who want a little added privacy! The suite also has a murphy bed on the ground floor.
Step outside and you're surrounded by old-growth forest and wildlife. Bald eagles nest nearby, and the deer and songbirds are plentiful. The property has even been visited by an occasional bear and bobcat! The large deck includes a gas grill and generous 8-seat table overlooking the big lake and Basswood Island.
Within ten short minutes, you're in the center of Bayfield, a town honored by national publications for its restaurants, marina, shopping, entertainment, and overall charm. Go on a glass-bottom boat tour and visit nearby shipwrecks, visit the sea caves by kayak, take the ferry to Madeline Island, or experience one of Bayfield's many events such as the famous Apple Festival in October. You won't run out of fun things to do!

Summary: Our group enjoyed a lovely 5 day stay at Whispering Pines in mid-September! The location of the property was fantastic right on the water. We were blessed with spectacular sunrises every morning of our stay! It's just a few miles from Bayfield and all the sites in the area. We enjoyed shopping, a winery, Meyer's Beach hike, Apostle Island Cruise, Madeline Island visit, and area restaurants. The hosts were very responsive to any questions we had. Would definitely recommend this property and can't wait to return again someday!

Summary: We loved our four nights at this secluded property! It was the perfect spot for four couples to relax after our Apostle Island adventures. We gathered as a large group in the spacious family room, large dining table, outdoor fire table, and the dock while the spacious bedrooms with their own bathrooms provided privacy. The hosts were exceptional in communication, answering all of my questions while planning our vacation. I highly recommend this property for anyone traveling to the Bayfield area!

Summary: My 3 friends and I celebrated our 50th birthdays with a quick getaway together. Karen’s gorgeous lakefront home exceeded our expectations. Our favorite gathering spot was the oversized dock. Summary: I can’t say enough good things about this home. It’s in a beautiful location, there are well kept paths with conveniently placed benches to take in the scenery. There are cozy blankets available, the home is very spacious with all the amenities we could have hoped for. It is equipped with everything you could want or need as far as kitchen supplies. It has a great layout for bedrooms. Even if some in your party want to go to bed earlier, it is laid out in a way that you could definitely do that. Great outdoor spaces! An amazing dock on Lake Superior to enjoy the sun, watch bald eagles and just listen to the waves. It’s close to the cute town of Bayfield where there’s an abundance of fun shops and the best coffee I’ve had in my life-at Wonderstate Coffee! The owners are so quick to respond if you do happen to have any questions. They are so very accommodating and I would say out of all the vrbo’s my family and I have visited over the years, we all agree these hosts make you feel the most at home. We spent a large amount of our time paddle boarding on Lake Superior. If you stay close to the shoreline there are breathtaking views. It’s also nice that there is a spot under the stairs where we could store our paddle boards so we didn’t have to haul them back and forth between trips. We hope to return in the future!!

Summary: The house and master suite was perfect for our group and kiddos. It was a short distance to all the places we wanted to visit. It was very clean, very roomy and the hosts responded so quickly when we had questions. The house is beautiful and makes you feel secluded from anything else. It was a great place to stay.

Summary: We spent the holiday weekend with our family at this property. The home was perfect for our group and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. The views and dock were wonderful for relaxing, and we were also close enough for trips to Bayfield and Meyers Beach for kayaking. Communication with the owners was great. Summary: Whispering Pines is a beautiful place to hang out while visiting Apostle Islands/Bayfield area. It is secluded and so incredibly peaceful. The view of the shoreline from the dock is wonderful. When rains caused some issues, the owner was very responsive and caring for our needs as well as their property. This is a perfect oasis to spend time resting in God's beautiful creation.
